Southwoods favored in Fil-Am golf

12/07/2009

BAGUIOCITY --- Attention now is on the higher divisions of the 60th Fil-Am golf tournament starting tomorrow after today’s second ceremonial tee at the Camp John Hay and Baguio Country Club golf courses.

Competitions start in flights A, B and D of both the Fil and Am divisions as the Championship flights and flight C are to tee off Wednesday.

Despite the absence of the country’s top amateur players who will represent the country in the South East Asian Games on the second week of this month, games will still be as exciting, said Fil-Am vice chairman Shin Paul Chan.

Jonel Ababa, Antonio Asistio II, reigning national champion Mark Fernandoand US-based junior standout Judson Eustaquio comprise the four man RP men’s golf team.

Ababa and Fernando are members of last year’s Fil Championship winner The Country Club, while Asistio has always been part of the Manila Southwoods.
