The boxing competitions in the 3rd Asian Indoor Games reeled off with the draw held yesterday at the Phoenix Resort Hotel in Bac Ninh province, the boxing venue 38 kilometers east of the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi.

The draw was supervised by the tournament’s Technical Delegate Nieva Embuldeniya, a native Filipina married to a Sri Lankan, and a member of the powerful Executive Committee of the International Boxing Association.

Using the computer draw system, pairings were determined for the women boxers from 12 different countries entered in the competition.

The Philippines top bet Annie Albania of South Cotabato, a silver medalist in last year’s World Championship in China, will see action on Day One against Kazakhstan’s Na Zhai.

Ed Picson, Abap executive director and boxing delegation head here, bared the women’s team is raring to slug it out.

“They are in high spirits. It’s been some time since they had international competition and they want to make up for lost ground,” Picson said.
