Talao elected PBAPC president
10/31/2009
The Philippine Basketball Association Press Corps recently voted to a second term of duty as president sportswriter Tito Talao of Tempo. Talao, who served as PBAPC president for three consecutive years from 1999-2002, will take over from another multi-termed officer, Nelson Beltran of the Philippine Star, an automatic member of the board of directors. Zean Macamay of People’s Journal and Mae Balbuena of Pilipino Star Ngayon retained their posts as vice president and treasurer, respectively, while Waylon Galvez of Manila Bulletin came in as secretary, trading assignments with the Tribune’s Arman Carandang, now the auditor. Joining Beltran in the board are three-year president Noli Cortez of Malaya and veteran Daily Inquirer sportswriter Musong Castillo. Galvez will head the association’s membership committee, Carandang the constitution and by-laws, and Beltran, along with the PBAPC president and treasurer, the finance committee. PBA chairman Lito Alvarez of Burger King, along with PBA commissioner Sonny Barrios, will induct into office the new set of PBAPC officers. Back to top
