DLS-Dasma zaps PMI volley pair

10/13/2009

PUERTO PRINCESA — De La Salle-Dasmariñas standouts Wensh Tiu and Regina Tungol fashioned out the most convincing win on opening day — a 21-6 triumph over the Philippine Maritime Institute’s Carmi Risare and Ma. Sally Emelia Sanchez in the 2009 Petron Ladies’ Beach Volleyball Tournament’s 4th and final leg at the Baywalk here yesterday.

The beauteous Lady Patriots used better sandcourt coverage and accurate placements shots to win and lead the opening-day winners of the ciruit’s final leg, dubbed the Battle of the Champions and backed by Petron, Speedo, Mikasa and the City of Puerto Princesa.

“Our focus was the key. We kept our errors to a minimum and we took it from there,” said Tiu, who is one of the crowd favourites here because of her good looks and athleticism.

Also pulling off a masterful win was second-leg winner Pau Genido and her new partner – University of the Philippines schoolmate Amanda Isada. The Lady Maroons crushed the Philippine School of Business Administration’s Andrea Angela Quigencio and Dyrene Rose Benicio, 21-12.
