South All Stars vs RP Team
04/24/2009 PANABO, Davao del Norte — The South All Stars, featuring three former national players and two talented imports, take their turn to test the mettle of the Powerade Team Pilipinas in the second game of the 2009 Motolite PBA All-Star Week at the Panabo Gym here today. RP team coach Yeng Guiao expects a tougher challenge in the 7 p.m. tiff, facing a team he deemed taller and quicker than the North All-Star squad they whipped, 98-80, at the Victorias Gym in Victorias, Negros Occidental Wednesday. The Nationals took a seven-hour trip from Bacolod, with a stopover in Cebu, to be here at noon yesterday. The South All Stars flew in a little earlier from Manila. “I’m sure that the South team saw the game (against North), and they’ll make adjustments to put as more on the defensive. We welcome that,” said Guiao. “I think that’s what we really need to improve. It’s for us to be scouted, and then for the other team to make adjustments against us, so that we can also make adjustments on our side.” Adjustments, however, are really in order for Guiao with Kelly Williams, Ryan Reyes and Sonny Thoss doubtful starters in the Panabo leg of the All-Star spectacle supported by Powerade, Coca-Cola, Nike, Accel and Phoenix Fuel. Thoss has been nursing an injured knee for a few days now, Reyes sustained a sprained ankle in the fourth quarter of the Victorias game while Williams was hit by a bum stomach. Back to top
