Press Secretary Cerge Remonde yesterday swore into office deputy presidential spokesman Anthony Golez III as undersecretary of the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) in simple ceremonies at the Media Briefing Room in Malacañang.

On hand to witness the oath-taking were Cabinet Secretary Silvestre Bello III, presidential spokesman for economic affairs Gary Olivar and newly appointed Public Works and Highways Secretary Victor Asis Domingo.

Prior to his appointment, Golez was deputy administrator of the Office of the Civil Defense, Department of National Defense (OCD-DND), from 2004 to Sept. 30 this year. He was also the spokesman of the DND from 2005 to Sept. 30, 2009.

An added feather to his cap was the award he received as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines, for Disaster Management, in 2007.

The new OPS undersecretary obtained his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Sto. Tomas in 2000. He finished his Masters in Business Administration in Healthcare at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business in 2005. PNA
