Talent manager found dead in rest house room

06/14/2009

Known talent manager Douglas Quijano was found dead inside his rest house in Barangay Ayunte, Lucban town, Quezon province yesterday morning, police authorities said.

Police found Quijano, one of the most influential talent managers in the local entertainment industry, sprawled dead on the floor of his bedroom at about 10 a.m.

Quijano built the rest house three years ago after deciding to semi-retire from show business. He was supposed to celebrate his 65th birthday on June 25.

Police said Quijano’s doctor confirmed that the talent manager succumbed to a heart attack.

Lucban police chief Senior Inspector Francis Pasno said the police, who were called by Quijano’s household helpers, forced their way into the talent manager’s room after he failed to respond to their calls for him to open the door of the room.

Pasno said the household helpers had been knocking on the door of the room but no Quijano came to the door. This, they said, worried them and prompted them to call the police for assistance.

A report by radio station dzMM early yesterday said according to a member of Quijano’s household, the talent manager had complained Friday night of not feeling well, but he refused to be brought to hospital.

The afternoon of that day, Quijano allegedly said he felt severe itchiness on his legs and asked to be brought to his doctor to have it checked, but refused to go to a hospital after the consultation. PNA
