RP diplomat found dead inside Canada flat — DFA

A Filipino consul was found dead inside his apartment in Ottawa, Canada Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) officials said yesterday.

The DFA officials, who sought anonymity, yesterday said Eloy Luis Bello’s body was found inside his flat after police forced their way inside. No further details were given.

The cause of his death was still unknown. Officials at the embassy in Canada were trying to determine if foul play was involved.

But according to the DFA sources, Bello could have suffered a heart attack or had died in his sleep.

The afternoon before he died, the sources said Bello reported for work for only half a day.
