In shiny black came the 2012 Foton MPX 2.8 CRDI Long Wheelbase with seat configuration of 4 captain’s chairs 1st and 2nd row, bench type 3rd row and split fold 50/50 on the 4rth row in tan colored genuine leather. Just from the seat upholstery used which was also used in luxury vehicles, you will feel like royalty. On our road trip to Segara Suites in Subic we had six passengers including driver so you could just imagine the leg, head and elbow room for all occupants inside the van. The coolness of the dual air-conditioning system kept the passengers cool while the seats which could be reclined to the passengers’ desired position, maintained comfort. Our luggage together with some imported and local goodies or “pasalubong” from Subic, were snug fitted behind the last seat row. Loading and unloading passengers from the rear could be accessed from the right side sliding door. At the helm of the driver seat, the steering wheel (with airbag) diameter size was just right and felt comfortable to the hands, the control switches were within reach and the instrument cluster was informative. The front and rear windshields and side windows were large enough for all passengers to see the sites and for the driver to look at the road ahead. The conveniently located cup and bottle holders in the cabin made it easy for us to quench our thirst and to prevent clutter during long road trip. The sound system though could have been more entertaining for the passengers on board if it had a DVD player with monitor, although it was a good time to converse with the family. When night fell and we were at a dark area in the open parking in front of Meat plus, we appreciated the door lights, step lamps and cargo light, since we were able to watch our step.
As this writer’s family checked in at Segara Suites our home away from home, the Segara personnel were all friendly and very accommodating, the rooms were all super luxurious. Since we all over slept due to the comfortable accommodations provided, the following day, after a late breakfast, it was time to head back to Manila and when all passengers were accounted for, it was time to cruise the Tollways. The 2012 Foton MPX 2.8 CRDI Long Wheelbase had a superior ride and the road trip from Subic to Manila felt short. Thank you to Boss Romeo and his staff for that great family bonding activity.
