The Grandest Mpv of Asia – Coming In June
05/13/2008 Nissan new Grand Livina is taking Asian markets by storm! In every market it has been launched, the all-new Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) from Nissan is outshining other brands in its vehicle segment. The Nissan Grand Livina was specially crafted at the Nissan Technical Center in Atsugi, Japan for the Asian market. Penned by Nissan’s best design team at the Nissan Design Center, the Grand Livina puts together real-world MPV qualities with the compact nimbleness and performance of a sedan. This provides what Nissan calls a “shift in expectations.” “The idea is to conceptualize a modern vehicle for the new generation family,” explains Steven Hu, assistant vice president of Nissan Motor Philippines Inc. Mr. Hu was with the team that successfully launched the Livina line-up in Taiwan. His expertise in developing the vehicle to meet the needs of each specific market proved to be particularly useful in the emergence of this MPV for the Asian region. The design itself is basically a mixture of Asian and European influences. Its chrome-finished radiator grille, reminiscent of the mighty Murano, the rising rear window and roofline arches reveal a Euro-chic image, while the compact styling and interior versatility are unmistakable Asian influences. The remarkable performance of the Nissan Grand Livina began in China. There it won the “World’s Most Beautiful Automobile” Award for 2007. After launching in China, the first right-hand drive version was assembled and sold in Indonesia where, in its initial month, sales reached 900 units. Every month thereafter, the Nissan Grand Livina’s sales figures in Indonesia ballooned to over 1,000 units per month leading to a 2007 year-end tally of almost 13,600 units sold! This one single model upped the sales of Nissan Motors Indonesia to meet is 2007 sales target at a time when the total number of brand new cars sold in the country was on a downswing. In December 2007, Malaysia introduced this amazing Nissan model. Barely two months after launch, Edaran Tan Chang Motor, Nissan’s Malaysian assembler and distributor has already received more than 10,000 orders and reservations for the Nissan Grand Livina.
