In her keynote address, Undersecretary Lontoc said, “Road Safety happens through the deliberate efforts of all sectors of the society. It is not the concern of government alone, but also of the general public, vehicle manufacturers, international organizations and donors, communities, civil society groups and individuals.” Director Aljibe stressed the value of education in road safety. “We need to teach the youth early on so they can influence their families and peers. This is why we have incorporated road safety education in the school curricula,” he said. Also present at the summer camp were Dr. John Juliard Go from World Health Organization, JP Tuason of the Tuason Racing School and Ron delos Reyes of the Society of Philippine Motoring Journalists who showed their support to Ford’s advocacy for road safety.
