School heads attend leadership conference
07/12/2010 Officials of 32 colleges and universities nationwide attended the recent Leadership Conference where former US Vice President and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Al Gore presented an updated version of his award-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth. The schools represented are among the partners of Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) under its Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program and Application Developers’ Intro School. “As leaders of their respective institutions, they are in the best position to influence the creation of learning environments that will produce the next generation of leaders who we hope will not only be schooled in terms of academics, but who will also be concerned and responsive to the needs of the environment,” said Mario Tamayo, head of Smart’s Network and Platforms Services Division who welcomed and hosted the academic contingent, sponsored by the telecommunications company. This year’s theme, “The Leader as Environment Steward,” is the third installment of the leadership conference, presented by SM Prime Holdings with the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.
