The Philippine hub of the worldwide organization GE Women’s Network recently joined the global “Think Pink” advocacy in the promotion of breast cancer awareness by recently mounting an intensive Breast Cancer Forum held at the GE Philippines Inc. headquarters in Net Cube Building, Taguig City. The event was held in partnership with the Manila-based I Can Serve Foundation. The forum started with a primer on breast care through a film showing Take Your Breast to Heart, with international stage actress Lea Salonga as narrator. This was followed by Breast Cancer 101 — an enlightening talk given by Dr. Mary Joyce Moncupa-Malayba. I Can Serve volunteer and breast cancer survivor Melissa de Leon, delivered her Story of Hope. GE Women’s Network is a voluntary organization that supports the growth and advancement of women working in GE by providing them with opportunities to participate in meaningful projects where they can cultivate their leadership, technology and business skills. For its inception in 1997, the GE Women’s Network has expanded to 125 hubs worldwide, and is rapidly growing. In the Philippines, the GE Women’s Network is committed to carry out the organization’s global mission through regular women’s workshops on career path mentoring (called MyConnections), best-practice sharing, networking activities and various outreach project in partnership; with local organizations.
