The fun only begins After 12

How does a trip to Hong Kong, Bangkok or even Seoul sound? Boring? Overdone? If you think you’ve been there, done that, After 12 will show you a brand new side of places that you once thought familiar. Hosted by the inimitable Jamie Aditya, After 12 takes you to the quaint corners and little-known nooks in various cities across Asia that are abuzz with life right through the witching hour and beyond. For the insomniacs and a generation that craves the unfamiliar, join Jamie as he outstays his welcome — beyond midnight — in Asia’s capitals of gaiety. After 12 premieres every Monday at 10 p.m.

Against the background of pitch black skies and jarring city lights, re-acquaint yourself with familiar Asian favorites and be enthralled by the underbelly of these cities. In every episode, young and energetic locals treat Jamie to an unconventional personal tour of the city and take him through places unexplored by the usual travel guide. With no gimmicky set-ups nor rehearsed lines, Jamie follows the brood of city slickers for a night of activities, handicraft, stories, food and local culture — experiences that reveal the side of a city that disappears when dawn breaks.

You will be tempted to cancel your tour package and leave behind your checklist of touristy attractions, as the series takes you on a ride through the little or lesser-known areas and off the beaten tracks. Live, sleep and eat like the locals; and discover what awaits After 12.

Bridget’s Sexiest Beaches

Ex-Playboy bunny Bridget Marquardt ventures out of the Playboy Mansion in search of sun, sea and sand on Discovery Travel & Living’s new series, Bridget’s Sexiest Beaches. From the white sand beaches of Phuket, Thailand and Surfer’s Paradise in Australia, to the mysterious coastlines of Croatia and the world-famous Banzai Pipeline in Hawaii, join Bridget as she explores the world’s most alluring beaches and immerses herself in everything these tantalizing seaside gems have to offer. Premieres every Thursday at 10 p.m. starting Dec. 3. Encores Thursdays, 4 p.m. and Sundays, 9 p.m.

Vir Sanghvi’s Asian Diary

Discovery Travel & Living introduces a brand new series, Vir Sanghvi’s Asian Diary, presented by the renowned columnist himself. Combining yet contrasting tradition with modernity, spirituality with science, and simplicity with luxury, Asia is a unique mix of colonial history and urban modernity. Explore the intoxicating mix of vivid colors, sights, sounds and smells that is Asia every Monday at 10:30 p.m. starting Dec. 7. Encores are on Mondays, 4:30 p.m., Fridays, 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 4:30 p.m.

Best of 2009 programming special

This December, Discovery Channel will present a special programming event showcasing the channel’s most compelling programs of the year followed by a preview of some exciting new series from next year’s lineup. From modern engineering marvels to prehistoric beasts, the Best of 2009 special takes a look back at the year’s top-rated programs starting Dec. 14, from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight.

Then, from Dec. 21 to 24, get an exclusive sneak peek of some of the exciting new programs coming up on Discovery Channel in 2010, including The Colony, Rampage, Mega Engineering, Machines of Malice 2 and Prehistoric Disasters.
