Ayala Malls brings cheer to Pinoy homes, literally
By Dinah S. Ventura 11/22/2009 "Sharing with others” is the theme that guided the Ayala Malls in planning its 2009 holiday activities, revealed Ayala Malls Group head Marivic Anonuevo over lunch at Tapella recently. “Because our thrust is sustainability, our Greenology project continues, and in fact we are also launching our green bags, part of the sales of which will go to the Habitat for Humanity,” she continued. The Ayala Malls’ Greenology campaign, launched this year, showed the company’s commitment to “bringing the sustainable lifestyle to its consumers.” Its eco-friendly efforts and projects have made consumers aware of the need to heed the call of Mother Earth, and this season is no different. A highly commercial season, Christmas is always a high point for businesses, especially those in retail and entertainment. The Ayala Malls, while making sure that consumers are able to enjoy the holidays in the malls, is giving as much thought and imagination into its corporate responsibility efforts. This year, it continues its green advocacy and gives back to support the rehabilitation and reformation projects of Children’s Hour and Bahay ni Juan sa Caluan of Habitat For Humanity. These efforts are part of the Ayala Group of Companies support of the Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig campaign. “Our goal is to relocate illegal settlers along the Pasig to decongest the Pasig River banks and waterways. We believe that more than giving donations, clearing will be a far more sustainable solution,” Anonuevo said, adding that the families will be relocated to Laguna and given livelihood opportunities as well. The holiday season is all about giving more than receiving. “The Ayala Malls is committed to give 175 homes through Habitat for Humanity,” shared Anonuevo, who was joined by her team: Myrna Fernandez, assistant vice president. Special guest at the press lunch was actor Piolo Pascual, who will be part of the mall events for Christmas. With the theme “See Love All Around This Christmas,” the malls’ series of events and activities are “designed to put our communities together actively sharing their time and financial support which will further raise awareness on social responsibility and are all for a cause,” the Ayala Malls Group stated. The events start at Thanksgiving Day, with the Greenbelt 4 Holiday Collection Preview on Wednesday, Nov. 25, where merchants are donating “lifestyle experiences” to be auctioned that night. These include a private movie screening for 50 persons courtesy of the Ayala Malls Group, a collection of designer bags from Stores Specialists Inc., a special gourmet dinner for 12 courtesy of Bvlgari, and two invitations to the opening of Louis Vuitton’s Global Store at Ngee Ann City, Singapore, with accommodations and a cocktail party with Michelle Yeoh. Proceeds of the auction will benefit Children’s Hour rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts. On Nov. 28, a silent auction and a Christmas concert that is musically directed by Ryan Cayabyab with stage direction by Johnny Manahan featuring Piolo Pascual will be held at the Fashion Walk, Greenbelt 5. One-of-a-kind and valuable pieces donated by merchants Ana Rocha, Amina Aranaz, Arnel Papa, Myth, Firma, AC+632 and artists Arturo Luz, Wig Tysmans, Joe Mendoza and more will be showcased in a creative display. These will be auctioned off to raise funds for relocating, at the same time improving the lives of the informal settlers around Ilog Pasig. The Ayala Malls is also launching its annual Christmas Shopping bag promotion this December. For a receipt of P500 in any Ayala mall with P5 donation, a customer is entitled to a Christmas edition shopping bag. Another effort is the Santa’s Factory where parents and children can create their own personalized gifts. For every P100 kit, a portion goes to charity. Santa’s Factory will be at Glorietta 3 from Nov.15 to Dec. 27 and Glorietta 5 on Dec. 16 to 24.
