Born to fit

09/16/2009

Fit is all that matters when it comes to clothing. And the year 1969 marked the difference for denims as it was the time when GAP was born to fit.

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, GAP introduces its line of must-have jeans. The classic brand has gone to lengths redesigning its signature 1969 Premium Jeans pieces. The reborn collection boasts of details that work — from design and fit to fabric, fasteners and production.

The 1969 Premium Jeans Collection includes functional and stylish core fits: Always Skinny, Real Straight, Sexy Boot and Curvy for women; and Straight, Authentic, Standard, Boot, Loose and Easy for men.

Always Skinny hugs the body from the hips to the ankle with its newly-inspired classic low rise fit. GAP also captures dreams of seemingly never-ending legs with its ultimate leg-lengthener Sexy Boot. Meanwhile, comfort always goes with style in GAP’s perfectly proportioned Real Straight. Curvy also takes the front seat as it returns with subtle tailoring updates and versatile variations.

The sons of Adam could also indulge in the GAP difference. Straight features smart, clean lines that sit low on the waist and gives a lean shape. God-like long, slim legs are now within reach with GAP’s Authentic fit that is refreshingly understated. Classic fanatics are in for a treat with the relaxed yet refined Standard fit. Lastly, Boot, Loose and Easy sets out the trend with its straightforward and updated streamlined cuts.

Coming in classic rinses that you would surely love, the Premium Jeans are in hues available from the darkest ink to the light, distressed finishes. Made under the strict guidelines of first of its kind Gap Inc.’s Clean Water Program, the brand ensures that wastewater used for dyeing were treated to guarantee the cleanliness and safety of local communities. These Premium Jeans also has unique pattern developed for each and every wash, in all silhouettes —promising a satisfying, perfect fit in each size.

As parts of its reasons to celebrate, GAP’s Born to Fit campaign unleashes a transformation in its Facebook Fan Page. Through its Born to Share Interactive Gallery, GAP fans from all over the world are encouraged to create their ultimate "born to" expression. The page’s Fit Spotlight also allows users to explore GAP jeans while hearing the commentary of the label’s head designer Patrick Robinson. GAP Fit engineer Rada Shadick also has a video elaborating the craftsmanship and details of the new collection.

GAP’s Born To campaign also features the likes of young Harvard drop-out and the "No. 1 CEO Under 30" title holder Tom Szaky who was born to inspire, Pulitzer Prize nominated playwright, actor, singer and songwriter Elisa Davis who was born to do it all, stage and screen actor for The Lake House and John Adams Ebon Moss-Bachrach who was born to be curious, HBO’s Tell Me You Love Me and ABC’s Flash Forward star Sonya Walger who was born to feel, and American actor famous for Best Laid Plans and Jurassic Park III Alessandro Nivola who was born to take risks.

With all these and more, GAP poses a timeless query: What were you born to do?
