Maja still footloose and fancy free
09/15/2009 After the reversals she suffered with the shelving of her first solo series Anna Liza and Moonriver, Maja Salvador’s entertainment career takes an exciting major turn. Buzzstation spent a whole day with the hard-working and no-nonsense Maja during the Sisters Sanitary Napkin junket to Candelaria, Quezon. Held in Sioland Supermarket at the Quezon Town Center, Maja enthusiastically promoted the brand of reasonably priced sanitary napkins. Maja’s character is currently not appearing in the top-rater series May Bukas Pa to allow her to shoot the television remake of Magsimula sa Puso, the 1990 Hilda Koronel, Jay Ilagan and Richard Gomez starrer for Viva Films. Jason Abalos and Coco Martin, two of the most compelling young dramatic actors we have today, will be in the same remake with Maja. One thing that still hasn’t changed about this young actress is her love life. Although she is consistent in claiming she’s single, tabloid reports continue to link her name with actors Carlo Aquino, Jon Avila, Sam Milby and the most recent, Enchong Dee. Maja strongly denies the buzz that Sam has started courting her, saying, "Wala po, hindi ‘yan totoo; hindi po siya nanliligaw sa akin; hindi ko nga alam kung san nangagaling yang balita na ‘yan." The young actress reiterated that she remains single and has not been involved in any romantic relationship at all. She also denied any relationship with Jon Avila and clarified that Carlo Aquino was never her boyfriend. She adds, "Friends lang talaga kami ni Carlo. We were never on. Marami pa akong planong gawin sa buhay at dapat focus muna ako sa work." Aileen Go, owner of Megasoft Corp., Sisters Sanitary Napkins manufacturer, and Maja handed out 150 pieces of school bags to high school students after Maja’s breathtaking dance number. The group from Manila was welcomed by Bishop and Elizabeth Sio and children Kathleen, Emerson, Kharen and Eric, Sioland owners.

With his dark magic and legions of soldiers he searches for the three Boxes of Orden to gain ultimate power. Last month, PEP announced that it will be participating in the 80-day event through its subsidiary. The fair is designed to bring together the world’s leading cities and companies to celebrate diverse cultures and share their visions of the future. PSBI aims to introduce and promote Filipino entertainment in South Korea and bring in Filipino artists to perform in concerts and be part of various Korean TV Shows, and vice versa. It will allocate a separate booth for GMAAC in the pavilion for the network giant. The booth will display GMA shows, artists, presentations and other GMAAC promotional materials. The two parties also agreed to explore future projects together. PSBI also seeks to sell or export Filipino movies and TV shows to South Korea. PEP’s participation in the Fair will be its first project, led by the subsidiary’s chairman Jung. "I am very pleased to welcome GMA as a new partner as we embark on this rare opportunity to market our businesses, promote Filipino entertainment and represent the Philippines all in one global affair," he said. Henares, vice president of GMA’s Talent Development and Management Department and head of GMAAC, is delighted to work with PSBI and promote GMA artists in South Korea, believing that the partnership will be beneficial to both parties. Ida said they are excited to be sending some of their talents to participate in the fair in South Korea. Stef Prescott, one of the talents of GMAAC who was in attendance during the contract signing, is excited to be part of the project. Iza spends birthday in Gawad Kalinga Village "Thinking of a meaningful way to celebrate my birthday this year, we thought of this advocacy that we have been supporting, the Gawad Kalinga housing program," says beautiful and competent actress Iza Calzado. Taking time off from her busy schedule to celebrate her birthday in a meaningful way, Iza opted to share her talent, her commitment and her blessings with the beneficiaries of the Gawad Kalinga’s shelter program in GK Village in Sitio Pajo, Barangay Baesa in Quezon City. Iza came with Mylene Dizon, Alfred Vargas, DJ Toni Toni, Isabel Oli, Rhian Ramos, Joey Mead and director Mark Reyes to participate in the special day’s activities. They were there at 9 a.m. for the opening program after which they toured the village and helped build the "Sibol" learning center. They held fun and games for the kids before partaking of a sumptuous lunch which Iza brought for them. Iza was especially touched by the presentation of the kids for her on her birthday. Gawad Kalinga is building a community-based pre-school in the area consistent with its "Sibol" program aimed at providing education, training and guidance to children aged three to six years. The vision is to see these children grow up and develop into fruitful citizens by having quality education and make them wholistically, academically, socio-culturally and spiritually equipped for the future.
