The youth have indeed spoken — boredom has officially been kicked out of the lives of Pinoy tweens through their original Teazperiments.
Launched in March, Teazperiments is a series of fun, creative and experimental activities dedicated towards helping tweens battle boredom that was pioneered by Tang Fruit Teaz. Truly a drink that caters to the fun and free-spirited Filipino youth, Tang Fruit Teaz offers a refreshing range of fruit tea flavors-strawberry, apple, orange, peach and lemon. And inspired by these five uniquely delicious and non-traditional iced tea flavors of Tang Fruit Teaz, Teazperiments serves as an avenue for tweens to express their innate creativity, confidence and optimism.
"By creating the first ever user-generated youth online show in the country, Teazperiments created channels to bring out the innate spunky confidence and creativity in the Filipino youth through a creative online medium," says Cindy Abella, brand manager of Tang Fruit Teaz.
That's why after several weeks of waiting, Tang Fruit Teaz sponsored a big gathering of Pinoy youth in the Embassy Superclub this summer as they announced the winners of Teazperiments, the first user-generated youth online show in the country.
Hosted by celebriteens Ketchup Eusebio and Andi Manzano, Teazperiments localized the rapidly growing international phenomenon of flash mobs where performers assemble in a public place, display a unique action — much like in the famed Grand Central freeze where 200 people suddenly froze in place for five minutes — disperse and act as if nothing happened, much to the surprise of the onlookers. The user-generated online show featured group flash mob performances such as the "Sabayang Pagbikas" from UP Theater Council, Dance Like Nobody's Watching by Ateneo de Manila's Tanghalang Ateneo and The Sleeping Beauty by the San Sebastian Theater Arts Guild. The Pinoy youth themselves can judge the most fun and creative flash mob presentation by voting online.
"The feedback, as shown by the unique page views, sign-ups and votes, was really overwhelming," says Cindy. "You would really be surprised by the large number of Filipino youth who are seeking something fun and fresh that they can do to combat boredom."
And after several weeks of waiting, watching and voting, FEU-FERN's "Eating While Standing" was named the grand winner, taking home a total of P50,000. Special awards were also given to the other schools: Career Award to La Consolacion College for exerting the best effort in their Teazperiments entry and the Show Stopper Award to Ateneo de Manila's Dance Mob for being the most attention-grabbing Teazperiments entry as demonstrated by a large street audience.
"Watching different school organizations battle it out at www.teazperiments.com was just very exciting," shares Cindy. "But it just doesn't stop there as Teazperiments also welcomes individual flash mob entries for the second wave of the contest."
All they have to do is create a flash mob, have someone record it through video and upload it to www.teazperiments.com. And they instantly become part of the worldwide flash mob phenomenon which sociology experts predict can turn much bigger in the coming years.
"Teazperiments is a shared social activity that prompts everyone to be creative and spontaneous. We hope that through this initiative, the Filipino youth will be able to build a strong character that is able to appreciate life and its simple pleasures," she concludes.
