Aga and Charlene keep the love alive

It’s only a couple of days before Valentine’s Day and love once again fills the air. This special occasion may only be celebrated on the 14th of February, but for showbiz couple Aga and Charlene Muhlach, love is always present. At the recent launch of Pond’s Age Miracle, of which Charlene is the brand ambassador, people were reminded of their great love.

During the event in the Peninsula Manila, guests were treated to an early Valentine’s affair complete with flowers and serenades. It was a lovely afternoon adorned in a red hue and filled with fine food and beautiful tulips. As the newest face of Pond’s Age Miracle was unveiled, guests were also regaled with stories of romance as told by the beautiful couple.

A real love story

They are two of the most famous and gorgeous faces on television, and if you have been watching TV, you’ll know that they have been happily married for eight years now. But what many don’t know about this couple’s love story was how it unfolded. Unlike other showbiz “loves,” theirs was not the object of many intrigues, but more like a pleasant surprise for their fans. It was a whirlwind romance of sorts, but they were lucky to have found something so spontaneous to be genuine as well.

Aga relates, “We were at this garden, and then she just did something funny, cute. That was (also) the first time we really talked, and in the course of our conversation, I just saw something in her, and I said ‘Oh my God. This is my wife.’ (But) she wasn’t my girlfriend. On Aug. 12, my birthday in Singapore, we were taping. On Aug. 13, I proposed and she said yes!”

Wife Charlene was quick to point out that they weren’t together though when it happened. “(At that time,) we weren’t boyfriend-girlfriend. I don’t encourage everyone to do it that way, but I was just so fortunate,” laughed Charlene. Aga continued to say that their “official” courtship stage was actually the point when they started planning their wedding. The stars that they are, their love was like the subject of movies. But the difference was that it happened in real life and is for keeps.

Their inspiring love story seems to have blossomed even more through the years. Aga, pushing 40 yet still blessed with his boy-next-door looks, says his wife is as beautiful as ever, and more than that, is a real blessing in his life. Charlene says the same about her husband. “One of the biggest blessings that you can get is finding the right partner, and I’m just fortunate that I found my husband, Aga, as my partner. (But) he’s not just not my partner, someone I’ll spend the rest of my life with. He’s (also) somebody that I truly respect and somebody who’s also my best friend,” shared Charlene. The two also revealed that they try to spend as much time as possible being doting parents, to their twins, Atasha and Andres.

The secrets to keeping her man

It’s easy to fall in love with her for her beauty queen looks, her intelligence and gentle demeanor, but like any other woman, Charlene knows it’s necessary to work on a relationship to keep a good man like Aga. “As a woman nowadays, you really have to take care of yourself. It’s important. When you look good, you feel good, and your relationship actually becomes better,” says Charlene. She adds that the Pond’s Age Miracle line helps her look her best.

But aside from her ageless beauty, she admits that communication plays a huge role in their relationship as husband and wife. “We talk all the time,” explains Charlene. Spontaneity is also another secret for their happy life together. In fact, when asked about their plans for the big Hearts’ Day, Charlene has this to say: “We’re not the type who says ‘okay, next month we will go like this.’ We live like it’s our last day. It’s never planned. It’s always spontaneous. So when you ask Valentine’s —‘what are you going to do?’ no, we don’t wait for Valentine’s Day to enjoy the moment.” True enough, their eight years together say it all. And in the industry that they are in, eight years can be like eternity.

Another secret, if you can call it that, is also Aga and Charlene’s decision to stay away as much as possible from the lights of showbiz. They’re probably one of the very few couples in the entertainment field who has managed to keep their personal lives away from the prying eyes of the public. The blissful and private family life of Charlene and Aga may be deemed too good to be true for those who envy them, but the lovely couple shows that they are for real and they share a bond that’s stronger than ever. No pretensions here, just plain, ordinary couple in love whose eyes sparkle when the other’s names are mentioned. This is also a reason why they were chosen to be Pond’s brand ambassadors. Jacqueline Yuengtian, Pond’s brand manager, said that their love story and their whole marriage is something that is dreamed of by many, and to be part of this love story by giving Charlene the gift of beauty is a privilege.

While a lasting marriage is too often an elusive concept in showbiz, Aga and Charlene continue to prove otherwise. This endearing couple definitely knows how to keep their love alive.
