Café Mediterranean goes vegan

The world’s love affair with Mediterranean cuisine has been a culinary phenomenon especially at Cafe Mediterranean! Like any culture, food is a significant component of the Mediterranean cuisine and nowhere is it more significantly affirmed in the dining tables of Café Mediterranean in all its branches around Metro Manila.

Cafe Mediterranean presents a panorama of Mediterranean cooking developed through centuries. It is rich diversity, healthy nature and cooked in authentic and popular way created by the restaurant’s chefs. They’ve come up with a special menu called “Almost Vegetarian,” and have taken more salads and vegetable dishes to the restaurant’s menu giving diners a bit more variety. Many of the dishes, reflect thousands of years of culinary history particularly the delicious mezes or starters, which can make a good alternative to the main course. One can try the Couscous Salad with Yogurt Dressing with garbanzos, grilled red bell peppers and that tasty yogurt dressing subtly spiced with turmeric and cumin. One can also have their Lebanese Chicken Salad with yogurt dressing. There is the vegetable moussaka which is a variation on the popular meaty dish. Or one can savor the Parmesan crusted fish fillet cream dory filly are coated with Parmesan cheese and bread crumbs then lightly pan fried in olive oil served with Shepherd’s Salad, a Turkish side dish of well washed tomatoes with red onions, thinly sliced and diced with a bit of salt. Now who says healthy or vegetarian has to be boring? The restaurant’s new dishes will prove whoever says that is wrong. You don’t have to be vegetarian or on a diet to enjoy good food.

Philippine coffee in new technology format

Philippine coffee, in particular a blend called Philippine Select, is now available in the latest format for espresso and freshly-brewed coffee which is the coffee pod. State-of-the-art technology compresses freshly-roasted and freshly-ground coffee into a 45-mm paper filter pod just like a tea bag, nitrogen-flushed and sealed in individual foil packs.

Sold wholesale for P20 per pack, the pods remove the worry about grinding coffee, using coffee filters and glass carafes or pitchers in coffee brewers, then brewing more cups than you need per batch. The coffee pods also work in traditional espresso machines. The pods also make for good cost control especially for decaf or flavored coffee, which are premium variants that cost more.
