The ‘Rush TV’ fever is on!
11/17/2007 College students are talking about Rush TV, a hot new show made by the students themselves that airs Monday to Saturday on Studio 23, 6 to 7:30 p.m. “It’s a very powerful proposition” says Bong Agustin, who created Rush TV along with TV director Bert de Leon. “Its basically like going into a room full of young people and asking all of them who wants to come out on TV, who wants to direct and write for TV. Rush TV really gives every college student a chance to perform—sing, dance, act and host, and gives the same opportunities for those who want to work behind the cameras— direct, write, light, manage production, etc. We don’t only give them the chance, we train them through workshops, using real professionals who work closely with the young people, imparting all their experiences and secrets, and this is open to everyone, as long as they are between 16 to 24 years old,” explain the directors. All talent-reality show like Pinoy Big Brother and Pinoy Dream Academy are mobbed by applicants, showbiz-crazy Pinoys who all dream of being in the limelight. Rush TV is no different, and what’s even better is the fact that it is a regular show that goes on and on, unlike PBB and the others that only run for limited seasons. And Rush TV has made access simpler, it has established ties-up with different clubs and organizations in most colleges and universities. Thus, schools like the UP, Ateneo, La Salle, FEU, PUP, TUP, UAP, La Consolacion, NU, etc. all have Rush TV organizations in their different campuses, who actively produce segments for the show, and who provide a direct link between students and the Rush TV producers like Bong and Bert. As a result, a lot of new talents are now being discovered, given chances to join the main hosts Say Alonzo, Roxanne Barcelo, Joaqui Mendoza and Mico Aytona, and perform with their favorite celebrity idols. “We encourage all students and young people out there to join us in the show,” say the show’s hosts, “especially now that everyone is back from vacation. It’s the start of the semester and everyone still has time to spare before a lot of school work comes in.” For interested parties, call 636-1902 or visit their sites at profiles.friendster.com/rushtv and rushtv.multiply.com.
