FG, not GMA, to undergo medical check-up — Palace

11/16/2007

Malacañang yesterday fended off speculation that President Arroyo will also undergo medical check-up, the reason she decided to stay for two nights with her husband, First Gentleman Jose Miguel “Mike” Arroyo, at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City on Thursday.

According to Presidential Security Group (PSG) chief Romeo Prestoza, the President will stay at the hospital for two days to personally monitor the conduct of the “routine” check-up on Mr. Arroyo.

He stressed only the First Gentleman, and the Chief Executive, who will be undergoing medical examination.

He said Mrs. Arroyo will stay at the hospital for two days since she is free of appointments for the day after her Cagayan de Oro City trip was canceled due to inclement weather.

Last April, Mr. Arroyo underwent a high-risk heart surgery for aortic aneurism.

The PSG chief would not confirm how long the First Gentleman will stay in the hospital, saying the medical checkup will take “several days.” PNA
