Employees who exemplified great values feted in Asiawide’s 7th anniversary

06/13/2010

Asiawide Refreshments Corp. (ARC) recently cited this year’s semifinal winners for its annual Asiawide Idols — at the company’s seventh anniversary celebration held in Quezon City.

The awardees Albert Paz, Lei Privado, Reinhart Dan Reyes and Orlando Nombrefia were more than happy that their efforts and hardwork were recognized.

As a fitting tribute to its strong workforce, ARC has since introduced the Asiawide Idol, an annual competition recognizing the best and brightest employees. The winners, one from Rank and File, Staff/Tech and Supervisory level are chosen based on a stringent criterion, the utmost of which is his/her epitomizing great values.

Paz, a cashier supervisor, has been with ARC for six years now. He admits that when he first joined the company he had not heard of it. Back then, ARC was just on its infancy.

“It was hard when I started but soon everything started to come into place. They’re happy people. The camaraderie is wonderful,” Paz recalls. Through the years, Paz saw how the company especially the management, treat its people.”

“They give the employees what should be accorded to them. They recognize even the simplest things like perfect attendance. We also have seminars in career improvement. In return, I make sure that I do the same for my staff. I started as a rank-and-file employee and now that I’m a supervisor, I share what I know.”

HR activities, like the Great ARClympics has brought them closer. “Even without an office activity, we make time to see each other, sometimes we bring our families,” Paz shares.

Privado, a senior bookkeeper, concurs. Her five-year stint in ARC has not only helped her financial security but has expanded her social network even before the advent of ubiquitous social networking sites.

“We treat each other not just colleagues but as family, we go out,” she reveals.

The closeness, camaraderie and family-orientation Privado says, is really present in ARC. “Whatever your rank is, they treat you equally.”

Like Paz observes, Privado adds that what is great about the management is that they really know how to treat people.

“The management espouses an open communication system. They treat everyone with respect.”

Reinhard Dan Reyes, an internal auditor, could not agree more. Toiling for ARC for three years now, Reyes attributes the strong organizational culture to the method he company employs in hiring.

“They have a strict policy hiring, they not only test the applicant’s potential but his/her personal background,” he attests. This, he says, contributes to tapping the power of reciprocity, leading to shared values, ultimately influencing organization behavior. Cliques, he notes, are virtually non-existent in ARC.

“Grouping does not prevail in ARC. As the company becomes bigger, the bonding remains strong,” he declares. “I will retire here.”

For Orlando Nombrefia, a three-year field sales assistant, working for ARC has been a life-changer.

As a fresh graduate, Nombrefia had doubts upon entering the corporate world.

“I expected the worst because I was young and new but that did not happen. They not only pushed me to do my best but they also boosted my morale. Teamwork is really there,” he says.

“Here at ARC, I am always in the process of learning. They teach us great values that will not only help us professionally but also in our personal lives.”

For these four individuals, ARC has become not only their source of income but their inspiration to do good things and become better individuals.
