The culinary industry has never been this “hot.”

Today, it has evolved not only as a hobby but as an art and profession that has made popular chefs into overnight sensations, and even spawned a new performing arts discipline. Culinary shows left and right along with other mass media portray cooking as a passion that inspires many and is being enjoyed by the audiences.

As the top culinary school in the Philippines, the Center for Culinary Arts (CCA) Manila once again steps up to the plate by launching another satellite school focused on food’s marriage with the mass media called “CCA Kitchen, The One-Stop Culinary Center.”

Located at the third level of the new Eastwood Mall in posh Eastwood City, CCA Kitchen will offer professional continuing education programs for culinary enthusiasts and foodies in the area of food media or culinary theater arts. The school will target career shifters, culinary and restaurateur enthusiasts, even children and homemakers. Its vibrant location is designed to tap the upscale market living nearby, as an adjacent center where they can gather to learn the latest culinary skills and its various applications.

“Culinary arts has spread into many sectors, not only in the kitchens of restaurants and hospitality establishments,” Ma. Veritas Luna, Ph.D., managing director of CCA, Manila, said. “It has become a global interest in media, both in print, television, radio and visual arts. It is also paving the way for a new performing arts discipline, i.e. culinary theater arts. Enthusiasts in this arena need to hone their skills further. The CCA Kitchen shall be a venue of bringing together experts in these fields.”

Aside from the school, the one-stop shop facility will also house a branch of Cravings Restaurant that can serve to culminate a day’s experience at the venue. This branch will offer a new and unique menu that highlights food for wellness. There will also be a Culinary Store that will offer interesting, unique, even hard to find culinary merchandise fit for the hard-core food enthusiasts, and also cheerful culinary kits designed for kids that will keep them busy and excited while working in their kitchen at home.

Chef instructors from the industry and experts from the field will be tasked to handle course offerings, among them Food Photography, Food Styling, Food Writing, Food Cybermedia, Media Appearances and Culinary Demonstrations under the Food Media Section.

Under the Recreational Division, short courses will be offered on Cuisines of the World, Entertaining at Home, Healthy Cooking, Wine Appreciation, Food and Wine Pairing and Baking Classes. The Professional Continuing Education Section will meanwhile present Restaurant Tours, a Chocolate Course and Master Chef Series.

A Young Chef’s Academy will target children through such courses as Navigating the Kitchen, Western/Asian Cuisine, Let’s Bake, and Young Upstart. There will also be Culinary Adventure courses such as Provincial Culinary Tours and Garden to Kitchen, Kitchen to Garden.
