10/18/2009 ANZ has announced a donation of AU$20,000 (US$17,500) through Red Cross (Australia) to support communities in the Philippines impacted by Typhoon “Ondoy” (international codename Ketsana). ANZ acting chief executive officer – South and Southeast Asia Joseph Abraham said: “Typhoon Ketsana has had a devastating effect on local communities in the Philippines, including tragic loss of life. “We understand this is a very difficult time for these communities and ANZ wants to support them with disaster relief, and as they begin the process of recovery.” The donation is to assist communities impacted by Ondoy. ANZ chief executive officer Philippines, Panadda Manoleehakul, said: “ANZ is committed to helping the communities where we live and work and we hope these contributions will provide some relief for people in the Philippines who have been affected by Typhoon Ketsana. “Our thoughts and sympathies are with those who have lost loved ones or who have suffered damage to their homes or businesses.” ANZ is also assisting international aid agencies to kick start public appeals to deal with the relief and recovery efforts in the aftermath of Ketsana in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam as well as the recent earthquake in Sumatra, Indonesia. ANZ customers who are affected by Ketsana are encouraged to contact their local ANZ branch to discuss the impact on their business or personal circumstances. Back to top
