02/08/2009

Lyceum of the Philippines University recently inked an agreement with Dusit Thani Public Ltd. Co., which owns and operates Thailand’s leading hospitality institution, Dusit Thani College, to offer its popular curriculum in Hospitality Management at the four campuses of LPU in Manila, Batangas, Laguna and Cavite.

The historic partnership marks a first in the Philippines and boosts the credentials of LPU which already has the largest student enrollment of more than 10,000 students in Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism.

Under the agreement, Dusit Thani College will provide curriculums and academic resource materials for Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Administration with specializations in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management, Tourism Management, as well as various intensive professional courses in Hotel Management including Dusit Thani College’s famous Professional Chef and Culinary Arts program.

LPU’s aggressive thrusts toward enhancing the levels of expertise of Filipinos engaged in the hotel and hospitality industry has created news as of late, heralded by the construction and operation of the six-hectare Cavite campus in General Trias.

More expansion plans are in the offing for LPU Cavite, with new courses scheduled for 2009, including possibly courses in photography and health and wellness including training in spa services.

Other LPU campuses are undergoing a series of developments to further upgrade educational standards. State of the art facilities and equipment for “kitchen training” and various practical laboratories shall be included.
