Students scout for toys, books to give this Xmas with Jollibee’s ‘MaAga ang Pasko’

11/16/2008

This Christmas season, a select group of kids is about to experience the joy that comes from giving. They are the Jolly Toy Scouts and they come from schools all over Metro Manila and the provinces with a mission to spread good cheer this Christmas to their fellow children.

The Jolly Toy Scouts are tasked to collect donations particularly old toys and books from fellow classmates and friends. These will then be collected and cleaned so it will look as good as new before they are presented to their new owners, the “MaAga ang Pasko” children beneficiaries.

The Jolly Toy Scout is the latest twist to Jollibee’s long-running MaAga ang Pasko drive. To cap its 30th anniversary, Jollibee hopes to make its flagship CSR program grander by involving more people in the toy and book drive.

“We conceptualized the Jolly Toy Scouts because we want to encourage children to get more involved in the program. There’s much to do rather than just dropping their old toys and books in the MaAga boxes. They can also share their time and effort to make it a truly meaningful experience for them,” Jollibee Marketing head Gold Tantoco said.

To date, over a hundred grade school students from 25 schools nationwide have already partnered with Jollibee by signing up as Jolly Toy Scouts.

Five schools from Luzon and the Visayas region have also partnered with Jollibee and enlisted their students as Jolly Toy Scouts.

Vibal Publishing House and STI Colleges also heeded the call to be part of MaAga and Pasko and joined the ranks of the Jolly Toy Scouts. Both institutions have pledged to donate toys and books to the campaign.

Since its inception, Jollibee Maaga ang Pasko has already collected over 1.2 million toys and books that brought Christmas cheer to thousands of kids for the past 14 years. Imagine how many more children it can benefit if more people will reach out and help.

Elementary schools and companies who wish to sign on their students and employees as Jolly Toy Scouts still have a chance to join.

Enlistment for Jolly Toy Scouts is until Nov. 21. Interested institutions may call Joy Alover of StratWorks at 893-7472 to 74 for more details.
