A fear of the inevitable

The first act of the next President, to obtain a wellspring of credibility, should be to issue a hold departure order on Gloria and Big Mike and most members of the Arroyo family to prepare them to account for the many abuses and plunder of the nation during the nine years of Gloria’s manipulative regime.

This is what many Filipinos have dreamed, and would like to see this dream realized by July 1, 2010.

Indications that Big Mike is himself orchestrating the last push for Charter change (Cha-cha) paints the sense of desperation in the strongly perceived plundering couple over the inevitable.

And that inevitability is their facing up to the long list of accusations of plunder and abuse of power that are all already well-documented during the four successive impeachment complaints against Gloria Arroyo since 2005.

Mentioning Gloria and Big Mike’s crimes would be impractical since any Filipino, even that of the small child variety, can well enumerate these when asked. And the insatiable nature of the couple assures a steady stream of irregular dealings.

This is where the presidential spouses, and their aides, will rue the day they kept on saying — bring on the evidence and bring this before the proper court.

In 2010, the evidence there will be properly evaluated and a proper court will prove that there was evidence of plunder all along, which will mete them long, long years in prison.

The attempts of the colluding couple to sneak in Cha-cha as a way for political perpetuity, nevertheless, has been instilling something good among Filipinos.

Aside from going down in history as the most corrupt and the most unpopular President ever, Gloria’s unconstitutional forays would also serve to remind future generations about the sanctity of the Constitution, that changing the Charter accompanies incalculable risk for whoever is in power.

The current generation of Filipinos is submerged deep into global humiliation as a result of the country being known as the most corrupt in the world, a notoriety achieved courtesy of Gloria Arroyo.

The sense of desperation is even glaring because of the apparent last card under the Big Mike caper which is to have his son, Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo installed as Speaker if Speaker Prospero Nograles would not be able to muster the gastric acid needed to digest the couple’s Cha-cha aspiration.

The Cha-cha push won’t be bought by the public even with the apparent false assurance that only economic provisions would be touched in the Constitution.

Going by the heated discussions among mostly Gloria’s allies in the House on Cha-cha, mainly as a result of resistance from most of her allies particularly those seeking a new term, knowing that association with Gloria, much more Cha-cha, is a political kiss of death, considered as a major necessity for economic development is the shift in the form of government to a parliament.

Prior to Gloria’s plan of political longevity, the focus of discussions on Cha-cha revolved on revising merely the provisions on foreign ownership on land and firms engaged in the vital utility and mineral industry, among others in the Constitution restricted to have either full or majority Filipino ownership.

The argument was that the ownership restriction is a major hurdle in attracting foreign capital into the country.

With the way Gloria and Big Mike have been operating, future administrations would think twice in openly proposing Cha-cha.

The nation, however, needs to get over the hump posed by the colluding couple’s desperate push for term extension.

The game plan is for elections to be rescheduled three years after 2010 to allow the transition to a parliament and, of course, Gloria will sit as a transition President.

In the 2013 elections, Gloria runs for a parliament seat, her election to parliament assured by hook or by crook, and she gets elected as Prime Minister by her prostituted members of parliament who can easily be bought with all her stolen billions.

Thus would be achieved, if that happens, oplan Gloria for eternity.
