Citi appoints Larsen to key Asia-Pacific post

10/23/2009

Citi appointed Jonathan Larsen as head of consumer banking and global cards for Asia-Pacific.

Larsen will be responsible for all of Citi’s regional consumer products and customer segments, the banking services giant said in a press statement.

He will also have joint oversight of Citi’s Local Commercial Banking covering the small and medium enterprises in the Asia-Pacific with Farhan Faruqui, the Asia-Pacific head of global banking. Reporting to Citi’s joint-CEOs for Asia Pacific, Shirish Apte and Stephen Bird, Larsen will be part of Citi’s Asia Pacific Executive Committee and will be based in Hong Kong.

Larsen was previously country head and Citi country officer for Singapore and CEO of Citibank Singapore Ltd. His successor in Singapore will be announced shortly.

Commenting on Larsen’s new role, Stephen Bird said: “Our appointment of Jonathan, an outstanding Citi leader, is to further strengthen our consumer business and reflects the priority we place on fully participating in the growth of the Asian Consumer marketplace. We regard this as probably the best growth opportunity in the world today.”
