Holcim to give discounts on products to developers
By Ayen Infante 03/10/2009 Holcim Philippines Inc., a leading cement firm, will provide discounts to home builders and subdivision developers amid the rising cost of construction materials. Holcim said the provision of discounts is a way to support the government’s affordable housing program and to help stimulate employment in these difficult times. Holcim is partnering with the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) for the second consecutive year. The housing sector has always played a key role in boosting the economy, more so in today’s global financial crisis. Holcim pioneered this agreement with SHDA in 2007, setting the benchmark for the cement industry. The memorandum of agreement (MoA) enables SHDA members to purchase Holcim cement at predictable prices, allowing them to continue their projects without delay protecting them against the increasing cost of construction materials. “Our renewed part-nership with SHDA affirms Holcim’s commit-ment to continually provide high quality and reliable cement supply nationwide. “We share the govern-ment’s vision of uplifting the quality of lives of Filipino families by helping them realize their dreams of owning a home, Holcim Philippines chief operating officer Ian Thackwray said. The signing of the MoA was led by Vice President Noli de Castro as chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Council, and participated in by SHDA National chairman Eduardo Alunan, SHDA president Bansan Choa, Holcim Philippines Chief Operating Officer Thackwray, and Holcim Philippines SVP for sales, marketing, distribution and technical services Ed Sahagun.
