Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. retail unit Pilipinas Shell Retail recently opened its first service station on Boracay Island, Aklan.

“The opening of our Boracay site is part of Shell’s investment into the Philippines as an expression of our confidence in the local market. It is also part of our continuing effort and commitment to bring the best quality fuels to more Filipino consumers, thus helping them go even further with their fuel,” Sammy de Guzman, vice president for Shell Retail Philippines, said.

Shell retail said its strategic move displays its commitment in uplifting the local economy, ensuring that the island continues to be a prime tourist destination in the Philippines. Not only will the Boracay consumers be able to experience the fuels borne out of over 100 years of fuel development, they will also have more convenient, safer and affordable access to the fuels used for their everyday needs, both private and professional, De Guzman said.

In line with ensuring fuels quality and service, Shell also aims to preserve the environment of the island through its Green Fuel Systems.

On top of its regular quality and safety standards practiced across all sites, the Boracay Service Station is equipped with double-walled fiber glass tanks and pipelines, taking extra measures to protect the local environment and increasing the lifespan of the facilities.

In addition, the site is fitted with a Continuous Monitoring System, which is armed to detect leaks within the walls of the facilities.
